Advertising and Paid-Advertisement Disclosure
Our advertising and paid-content policy
Entrepreneur Today is an independent publication, and part of being independent is being honest about how the publication is funded. We accept paid editorial content from selected commercial partners. This page explains what that means, how we mark it, and where the line sits between our independent editorial and anything we are paid to publish.
What "Advertisement" and "Paid Advertisement" mean on this site
When you see a piece on Entrepreneur Today labeled "Advertisement" or "Paid Advertisement," it means the content was created by, or in coordination with, a commercial partner who paid for its placement. That content is advertising. It does not represent the independent editorial opinion of Entrepreneur Today, its editors, or its contributors unless we state otherwise in the piece itself.
We use the words "Advertisement" and "Paid Advertisement" deliberately. We do not use "Sponsored," "Presented by," "Promoted," or "Featured" to mark paid content, because those words can suggest that a partner merely funded a piece rather than authored or shaped it, and we would rather be clear than clever.
Where the label appears
The label appears at the top of every paid piece, above the headline, in legible type, before you begin reading. A disclosure buried at the bottom of a page does not do its job, so we put it where you will see it first. This disclosure page exists to explain the policy in full; it does not replace the label on each paid piece.
A note on commercial relationships
Where a paid piece concerns a product, service, method, or assessment offered by a commercial partner, a material commercial relationship exists between Entrepreneur Today and that partner. We disclose that relationship through the "Advertisement" / "Paid Advertisement" label on the piece and through this page. Our independent editorial, the features, explainers, and reported interviews that are not labeled as advertising, is not paid for by any partner, and we keep a clear line between the two.
